One area that is backed by science is the use of mnemonics—a memory aid that connects something familiar to help remember new information. In this case, we can connect letters to objects, animals, or shapes that represent their sounds. 

For example:

‘S’ for Snake: Show students the letter ‘s’ and associate it with a snake. The shape of the letter can resemble the snake, helping them remember the sound (like what I’ve included for you in the free download).

 How to Use Mnemonics in Your Classroom:

• Use visuals: Connect each letter to a picture or keyword that’s familiar to students.
• Incorporate mouth motion: Show students how their mouth moves when they say the sound, reinforcing pronunciation and making the connection even stronger.
